In May 2017, I travelled to northern Uganda on behalf of Cal Bombay Ministries to visit two refugee settlements. The refugees have fled the fighting, insecurity and famine in South Sudan. CBM will be helping these families plant Gardens of Hope, teaching them micro-agriculture techniques so that they can grow vegetables in their small plots and have a more balanced and healthy diet.
This gallery has portraits of some of the people that I met in the settlements. People who hope that they will be able to feed their families. People who hope that they will be able to return to their homes in South Sudan and live in peace. People who hope that the future will be better than the past. People who hope that the world will notice them and care.
These are the faces of hope.
